Review of a selection of your noted Journal Entry Survival Items.


Survival Scenario & Group Formation - Max 3-4 - you formed your groups on Friday - 

Explain:
“You are now a survival team, but you can only take 10 items total. You must negotiate and decide together.”

Put students in groups of 3–4.

Item Selection Challenge (20 minutes)

Provide each group to review the below:


Sample items:

  1. Matches

  2. Lighter

  3. Water purification tablets

  4. 2L water jug

  5. Hunting knife

  6. Rope

  7. Tarp

  8. Sleeping bag

  9. First aid kit

  10. Flashlight

  11. Batteries

  12. Map

  13. Compass

  14. Cooking pot

  15. Fishing line + hooks

  16. Protein bars (10)

  17. Firestarter magnesium

  18. Metal cup

  19. Extra clothing

  20. Notebook + pencil

  21. Flare

  22. Small hatchet

  23. Blanket

  24. Emergency whistle

  25. Multi-tool

Task:
As a group, choose 10 items.
They must write down:

  • Which 10 items they selected

  • Why those items are essential

  • Which items they did NOT choose and why

Encourage debate and justification.

Attendance Note: Oct 28th with TTOC - Ms. Hathorn assisting with senior careers.  1. Lesson Summary: Oct 28th - Silent Read Personal Novels 20 min   2. Hand Out Grammar Workbooks - all booklets will be at the front of the room labelled FYI. Most students should already have their books with their names clearly at the top - please hand out again. Students to work on these SOLO! For the remainder of the block. Stack all chairs end of block. Note: Girls who were at volleyball will need new booklets - they were not here Oct 27th. Please review side board for sections NOT TO DO. Please ensure girls write their names at the top of their booklets.
