Tuesday:
Review of updated rules/regs.
Effective immediately
Our class has become far too noisy and unfocused, and it’s stopping us from learning. Starting today, we are resetting expectations. These expectations apply every class, every day:
1. Food & Drink
-
No food in class.
If you bring food, it must stay in your bag until the break. -
Only water bottles are allowed at desks.
No sugary drinks, energy drinks, bubble tea, iced coffee, etc.
2. Garbage
-
No getting up to throw out garbage during lessons.
Keep wrappers or waste at your desk until the end of class or an approved transition time.
3. Bathroom
To limit disruptions:
-
No bathroom breaks during:
-
the first 15 minutes of class
-
the last 15 minutes of class
-
-
Bathroom breaks are allowed after the lesson is finished and independent work has begun.
-
If it’s urgent, you quietly signal me—but “urgent” does not mean every day.
4. Movement
-
Remain in your seat unless you have permission to get up.
-
When you finish independent work early:
-
Stay seated.
-
Move on to the extension task or silent reading.
-
No wandering, no visiting friends, no walking laps around the room.
-
5. Voice Levels
-
When I call for attention, you stop, look, and listen—immediately.
-
If we can’t meet this expectation, we will redo it until it’s done correctly.
6. Technology (if relevant)
-
Devices stay away unless we are using them for the lesson.
-
Off-task use = device closed and put away.
7. Consequences
If expectations are not followed:
-
Warning
-
Move seats / loss of privilege
-
Parent contact
-
