Sept 8 2025 Pre Writing Lesson & Article Review - Proposed Revelstoke Adventure Park

Attendance - located in brown binder - left hand brown filing cabinet to the left of the teacher desk. 

Silent Reading 20 min. Students have their personal novel read books - they selected last Friday. These are primarily located in the Grade 8 bin far left of the classroom. A few students may have them in their lockers. 

Note: A few students e.g. Noah/Wyatt B. still need to get their personal reading novels - please send up to see Mr. Wilson in the library during silent reading time - total time - 20 min.

Further Note: If one or more students has forgotten their personal books - extra short story novels are located on the teacher desk - Strawberries and Other Secrets - students to return to teacher desk once silent reading is done.

Lesson: What is Prewriting/Brainstorming/MindMapping (Webbing) 

Lesson on Pre-writing including descriptive videos.

Hand Out Student Notes copies 'The Writing Process' - Already at the front of the room. Students will fill in the blanks as you go through the below PowerPoint.

Summary: Pre-Writing Lesson Methods Reviewed – 
Freewriting, Brainstorming & Webbing. 

After Lesson - Group Work: max 4 per group - groups can pick one of the Pre-Writing Methods -Prewriting/Brainstorming/MindMapping (Webbing) to prepare their ideas on what activities they would like to see in a new Revelstoke Adventure park. 

Teacher - after 10-15 min of group work - have each group present their work to the class - whether a Brainstorm OR a Mind Map - students can draw on the front and side boards with white board markers OR use blank paper behind the teacher's desk. Marks are also located at the bottom of the unit with the kettle on top.

If Time: End of class - review the article below - 


Discussion - what do the students think about the current proposed additional park? Are the ideas presented good ones? Why or why not? 

End of class - ALL STUDENTS - to slide chairs in, straighten rows, clean up any garbage - dismissed at 11:35 am. Teacher to lock door behind you please.
