Student Silent Personal Novel Read 20 min - 8:55-9:15 - before starting silent read, please have students take out their completed ‘The Street That Got Mislaid’ worksheet and answers so that you can do the homework check as noted below.

TTOC Homework Check - during silent read-  Street That Got Mislaid Pg 4 Worksheet. TTOC please make check mark in brown class list binder by student name - students keep you work! Do not collect - Street That Got Mislaid Pg 4 Worksheet.

Then - as a class - Please review the below answer key regarding the students work from last day on ‘The Street That Got Mislaid’ - Again students, please keep your work and your binders. You will need this for your short story test at the end of October

Review Answer Key - Street That Got Mislaid. - page 4 Sightlines 8 text - finish this task by 9:30 latest in order to allow enough time for laptop sign out, login and the quiz - 

Next - Quiz - Laptop #3 from library - laptop card number 3. Please open the laptop cart sign out binder to the H section for the existing English 8 page for Hathorn - students should sign out the same computer. They have already signed into as listed on the binder page. Go row by row for ease of sign out. 

Next - 

Students log into Office 365 use chrome or app - Log into the Hathorn English 8 Team. This will be the second time they have done a quiz online on teams so they should know how to do this. Your EA will likely be able to assist.

Complete Teams > Quiz - 5 Questions (From Monday Sept 22 content) - note the quiz will be located in assignments section inside the team. Quiz entitled -Quiz Cultural Appropriation, Colonization, Reconciliation - quiz - They have as much time as they need. Should likely 5-15 min once in. 

Note: If a student finishes the quiz earlier than others, they can go again back to the Team - Go to the ‘homepage’ and click on ‘resources’ to practice their typing. 

Then roll by row please have students return their laptops between 9:55 to 10 AM. Please ensure laptops are put in the correct slot and plugged in. 

TTOC you will need these laptops for the next block. Block dismissed at 10:05 once all students have corrected all rows and stacked all chairs and are sitting on their desks.

Silent Read 20 min Review Ambush - Class Discussion Sightlines - Ambush Pair Pg 61 1. What question was the narrator asked by his daughter? 2. How did he handle it? 3. What and where is ‘My Khe’? 4. Who is Kiowa? 5. In a short paragraph (5 sentences minimum) summarize the experience that haunts him. Develop FULL topic sentence, body - examples, and concluding statement here. Be ready to present! 6. How did Kiowa try and help the narrator? 7. Why does the narrator see ‘the young man coming out of the fog’ at the end of the story? Next Task: ‘Thank You Ma’am.’ Activity - Group Work   - Max 3 per group - Groups to complete  further assessment questions  re: ‘Thank You Ma’am.’ NOTE:  Each student to complete and fill in their own copy please!!!!
